[Overview]

The Barbara McLean Mixing Stage is the newest and most technologically advanced mixing environment within The Sound Department facility. Measuring 19 feet wide, 25 feet deep, and 12 feet high, this premier sound stage was purpose-built for modern near-field mixing, offering an exceptionally accurate and immersive listening experience for today's film, television, streaming, and music productions.

Designed and constructed in collaboration with leading acoustic architects and sound engineers, the stage delivers remarkable sonic precision in a carefully crafted environment. At its core is a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound Bluehorn System with full Dolby Atmos capabilities, providing unparalleled transparency and detail for critical listening and immersive audio mixing.

Adjacent to the mixing room is a dedicated living room-style lounge designed to replicate a residential listening environment. This unique space allows clients and mixers to evaluate content as audiences may experience it at home, ensuring mixes translate seamlessly across both premium theatrical and consumer playback systems.

The Barbara McLean Mixing Stage has become a destination for some of the industry's most respected sound mixers, composers, and music producers. Acclaimed film scores, iconic soundtracks, and award-winning albums have been crafted within its walls, making it one of the most sought-after creative spaces in the facility.

    Meyer Bluehorn System: 3-Way Full Bandwidth Screen Arrays with frequency and phase linearity, JBL SUB18 Subwoofers, 20 x Meyer HMS-10 High-Power Surrounds, 4 x Meyer HMS-12 High-Power Surrounds, Meyer Amie-Sub Dolby Atmos Subwoofers, Dolby Lake Processing via Lab Gruppen amplification in combination with Meyer 816, BSS and MTRX monitor management.

  • DIGITAL MIXING CONSOLE:

    Dual Avid S6 M40 24-Fader & 16-Fader 9-Knob control surfaces in Frozen Fish frames. Custom configurations and accessories including Master Post Module, Joystick Module, Expand Knob Modules, and Master Display Meters.

  • PRO TOOLS PLAYBACK: 

    2 x Pro Tools HDX Systems, 256 Total Output Channels.

  • PRO TOOLS RECORD: 

    2 x Pro Tools HDX Systems, 320 Total I/O Channels.

  • PLUGINS:

    Extensive list of current plug-ins from manufacturers like Audio Ease, Fabfilter, iZotope, Cargo Cult, McDSP, NuGen, Soundtoys, Waves, and many others.

  • PROJECTOR:

    Christie CP2215IMB compatible DLP digital cinema projector.

  • VIDEO PLAYBACK:

    Pro Tools Playback of HD/SDI video via AJA Kona 4 Video Card.

  • STAGETEC NEXUS AUDIO ROUTER:

    Avid MTRX with AES, Dante, MADI, and Digilink cards for a total of 800+ channels of IO.

    DirectOut PRODIGY.MC format converter of Analog, AES, MADI, and Dante signal formats.

  • AUDIO STORAGE AREA NETWORK:

    ZFS-based SSD Enterprise Storage. 30TB of usable space with redundancy via 10GbE connectivity.

  • STAGE EDITORIAL WORKSTATIONS:

    2 Private edit rooms all with audio, video, network, fiber and KVM Tie Lines to Stage.

  • EDITORIAL ROOMS:

    Calibrated home theater with 65″ TV and 5.1 surround sound playback of consumer sources or direct feed from mixing stage.
